Field Forensics, Inc. manufactures the E.L.I.T.E.^TM pocket-sized and disposable trace explosives detector, which is designed for use by security personnel, policemen and military personnel. Customers of Field Forensics include major cruise lines, the FBI, several nuclear power plants, the US Army, and the US State Department; 80% of FFI's business is export. The company expects that E.L.I.T.E. ™ technology will be a major tool in the fight against terrorism; it is also proving to be useful in schools to prevent and respond to bomb threats, a major cost and administrative headache for many school districts. In addition to explosives, the E.L.I.T.E. ™ is very sensitive to smokeless powder and black powder, which increases its already broad application in that it can be used by law enforcement as a presumptive test for gunshot residue. FFI also distributes equipment for bomb squads and explosives ordnance disposal (EOD) teams such as bomb suits, and hook and line gear.
