STAR Technology Enterprise Center in Largo has added Altorr Freedom Technologies as a new client in its accelerator unit.
Altorr has developed technologies for the health care industry including the voice-controlled Victory System that enables users to manipulate their environment at home or in a hospital room, nursing home or assisted living facility, according to a release. The goal is to allow such patients to save money and live more independently.
"Altorr’s technology will be of great benefit to the lives of the elderly and disabled," said Doug Martin, chairman of the STAR TEC advisory board and chief financial officer of The Imagine Cos. LLC, in a release.
Altorr joined other accelerator clients at STAR TEC including Mikros Systems Corp., an advanced technology company specializing in research and development of electronics systems primarily for the military; Field Forensics, a manufacturer of a pocket-sized and disposable trace explosives detector; Homeland Intelligence Technologies Inc., which designs and manufactures antiterrorism equipment; I.D. Rank Security Inc., a data protection service company; ReadyAlert Services LLC, a Web-based emergency notification system; Tattle-Trail LLC, which is offering a safety monitoring device for recreational vehicles; and WildBright Technologies, an IT and business systems consulting firm specializing in custom programming, client-server database design and Web development. Altorr is led by Tim Barber, the current board chairman of All Children’s Hospital and former board chairman for Easter Seals of Tampa Bay.
