Eligibility Criteria and Admissions Policy
Companies interested in becoming a STAR TEC tenant must meet the following criteria.
- Company headquartered in Tampa Bay. Our resources are concentrated on growing strong manufacturing/technology companies in the Tampa Bay region. Your company must be based here or be willing to relocate to the area.
- Full-time commitment of operating executive(s). There should be at least one executive with primary ownership who is active full-time.
- Operating history of at least six months. It is important that your company has a track record of at least six months prior to applying to STAR TEC.
- History of monetary investment. Operating executive(s) with primary ownership in company must also have invested personally in the company.
- Manufacturing/Technology focus. Our intent is to create jobs and grow companies in the manufacturing and/or technology sector. Your company must have a unique technology that has a competitive advantage in one or both of these sectors.
- Business plan.
Your business plan will assist the selection committee in determining if the product/concept/technology is commercially viable and the company has the resources/ability to become profitable. The selection committee will review the business plan for:
- Management's commitment to succeed
- Analysis of market competition
- Thoroughness of business plan
- Diversity of management team (marketing, accounting, management, technical, etc.)
- Financial ability to progress through the STAR TEC program
In addition to meeting these requirements, applicants will be required to complete an application. Applications will be judged on:
- Potential for growth and job creation
- Content and quality of the business plan
- Commitment to maintain corporate headquarters in the region
A meeting with the Selection Committee may be scheduled after receipt of application and business plan. These meetings may include a formal presentation from the prospective tenant and a discussion period.
