Innovation - Acceleration - Success

Located on the central west coast of Florida, the STAR Technology Enterprise Center (STAR TEC) is the Tampa Bay area's first technology and manufacturing business accelerator. Housed within the Young-Rainey Science, Technology, and Research Center, a former Department of Energy facility, STAR TEC supports the growth of early stage manufacturing and technology-based companies, enabling them to migrate their product/service to market more rapidly and effectively.

STAR TEC is funded through tenant fees; grants from the Community Reuse Organization, the Florida High Technology Corridor and Pinellas County Economic Development; and private contributions. Additionally, STAR TEC negotiates an equity position that varies by tenant. The program is managed by CTC Tampa Bay Inc., a not-for-profit Florida corporation whose goal is to foster jobs and promote economic development through assistance and support programs.

STAR TEC is a public/private partnership that creates successful entrepreneurs, develops new jobs, new sources of technology and manufacturing capabilities and new opportunities for specialized employment for students. STAR TEC is governed by an Executive Board that meets quarterly to review progress and initiatives; an Advisory Board that meets monthly to provide direction and support services; and committees to plan and conduct vetting, fundraising, marketing and program development activities.

Our Vision: "Accelerating Entrepreneurial Success"

Speed to market can spell the difference between success and failure. STAR TEC tenants gain the knowledge, skills and contacts that will help them succeed in a competitive and fast-paced global economy. Technology and manufacturing companies accepted as tenants gain access to affordable lease terms, shared equipment and administrative services. In addition, through a network of volunteers and members of the STAR Center tenant association, they will be able to access business assistance in manufacturing, information technology, engineering, science, research and development, marketing, accounting, legal and logistical support.
